Visiting Birnbeck

Birnbeck Pier, Birnbeck Road, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset BS23 2ES

what3words ///crash.under.space

There’s an information hub adjacent to the pier site where visitors can view display boards chronicling the history of the pier, buy a souvenir, enjoy a hot or cold drink and, if the sun’s out, an ice cream. Opening times vary and are weather and volunteer dependent. If you can spare some hours to help man the hub, please get in touch.

The nearest car park is Madeira Road, BS23 2HA. Weston railway station is 1.5 miles away. From the town centre, the pier is a pleasant walk, less than a mile, along the northern section of the promenade, past Knightstone Island, Marine Lake, and Anchor Head, where you can stop for food and drink at the Cove Café.

WARNING: Please don’t attempt to enter the highly unsafe pier site – even trying to visit the island at what appears to be low tide. The waters here are dangerously deceptive and there are hidden riptides traveling in different directions.
